We’re eXcited to announce the Crossmen’s 2027 percussion and audio leadership team, bringing together returning educators, experienced advisors, and new voices. Kennan Wylie joins the organization as Percussion Advisor, while Wade Quinn joins as Audio Caption Head. Noah Avelar and Ben Koch return in redefined roles as Co-Caption Coordinators.
Mike Huestis returns as Percussion Arranger and Composer, responsible for the full percussion book while continuing to consult with members and staff. Mark Thurston, a member of both the Crossmen and WGI Halls of Fame, will serve as Percussion Consultant.
Wylie brings decades of experience as the Director of Percussion Studies at Marcus High School. As Percussion Advisor, he will share his knowledge and perspective with the Crossmen’s percussion educators and performers. As Co-Caption Coordinators, Avelar will focus on the front ensemble, while Koch will focus on the battery.
“One of the things we value most in building a staff is giving great people the trust, support, and opportunity to grow into exceptional leaders,” said Corps Director John Meehan. “Noah Avelar and Ben Koch earned that trust this past season through their dedication, investment, and energy, and I’m excited to see them continue to grow in 2027.”
Quinn brings experience as a Percussion Director, along with his work with SCV, the Mandarins, Troopers, and Madison Scouts. As Audio Caption Head, he will lead a team of returning and new audio engineers, shaping the Crossmen’s audio production and performance experience throughout the season.
Together, these educators bring continuity and fresh perspectives to the 2027 season while supporting the growth of both members and staff.
