Philip Jones

Instructor

A local Texan, Philip Jones is pleased to be joining the Crossmen brass staff. Philip lives in Flower Mound and is an Associate Band Director at Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas.

Philip received his Bachelors in Music Education from the University of North Texas. During his time in the Green Brigade Marching Band, he was Head Field Instructor and the Director’s Assistant. Philip was Historian in Phi Mu Alpha and a member of the Marching Arts Forum. He was also a marching band tech at Flower Mound High School (2013-15) and student taught at Wakeland High School.

Philip marched with Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps (2012 - 2015), serving as mellophone section leader his last year. He was also the Fluegelhorn soloist in the 2015 production, “Inferno”. Philip went on to teach Legends Drum Corps (2016-17) and Guardians Drum Corps (2018-present). He is also currently an Educational Clinician for System Blue, teaching leadership camps throughout the summer.

Previously, Philip was an Assistant Band Director at Centennial High School in Burleson, TX. There, he started an Indoor Winds program and led them to multiple gold medals in local circuits, and a 5th place finish at WGI World Championships. Philip was also a part of the marching band’s first UIL Area Finals appearance and the first ever Sweepstakes for the Kerr Middle School’s Sub-Non Varsity Band.

Philip is a member of Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmaster’s Association.

Philip grew up in Flower Mound, TX, graduating from Marcus High School. He has two younger siblings, Sarah and Joshua, who both play brass instruments as well. He loves to travel and enjoys working out and staying healthy.
