Tyler Scarberry

Tyler C. Scarberry is an active color guard educator, and has been directing units for over 10 years. Scarberry is in his second year as Assistant Band Director & Colorguard Director for the J. Frank Dobie High School Band in Houston, TX, having previously served as Colorguard Coordinator at Dobie from 2014-2016. This school year, he has also had the privilege of opening Almeta Crawford High School in Fort Bend ISD as the Color Guard Director. Prior to returning to Dobie, Mr. Scarberry served as Colorguard Director & Dance Teacher at Summer Creek High School from 2016-2022, and he also previously served as the Colorguard Coordinator at Pasadena High School in 2013-14.


Scarberry is a dancer & bassoonist, who received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Houston in 2015, where he studied both music & dance. Scarberry currently performs with the modern dance company ‘6 Degrees’ under the direction of Toni Valle, and has done so since 2016. His performance experience includes two seasons with Code Black Independent Winterguard (2012-2013), placing in finals in Independent Open both years at the Winter Guard International World Championships and earning the Silver Medal in 2013. Scarberry has previously served on the instructional staffs for Redemption Guard (IO), Lone Star Independent Percussion (PIA), Spirit Independent (IO & IA), Third Coast Independent (IW), and the Guardians Drum & Bugle Corps.
