Sydney Scooler-Rivera

Sydney Scooler-Rivera had her start in drum corps marching as a mellophone player with Carolina Crown from 2014 to her age-out in 2017. In her time with Crown, she earned multiple awards, including awards for top visual and brass performance. As a staff member, she has taught both brass and visual at Colt Cadets (2018, 2019) and most recently was on the visual staff with Guardians (2021, 2022).


Sydney earned her degree in music education at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, in 2018. She is currently in her fifth year of teaching and in her third year as the assistant band director at Canyon High School in New Braunfels, Texas. In her current position, Sydney conducts the Symphonic Winds and teaches beginner trumpets at Church Hill Middle School. During marching season, she is the primary director for visual instruction and design, including defining and teaching the marching technique and writing and teaching choreography.


Sydney currently lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband Tristan and cat Olive.
