Samantha Houston Brown
Movement Specialist

Samantha Houston Brown has been involved in the marching arts since 2004. In high school, she
competed in Bands of America and Winter Guard International with Odessa High School Band of
Distinction, Odessa, Missouri. While attending the University of Kansas, she continued
performing with various marching ensembles including the Marching Jayhawks, Synchronicity
Winterguard, Avidity Independent Winterguard and a summer with the Santa Clara Vanguard
Drum and Bugle Corps, from Santa Clara, California. She became a member of the Zeta Delta
Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma in 2008. In March of 2020, she was welcomed as an Honorary
member of Kappa Kappa Psi by the Epsilon Omega Chapter.
Samantha has experience designing, instructing and choreographing for high school and
collegiate bands and color guards in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Texas, Hawaii and
Nebraska. Previous DCI experience includes Visual and Color Guard staff for The Guardians
Drum and Bugle Corps and is currently on Visual Staff for Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps. She
is in her seventh year as the Color Guard Instructor for the University of Nebraska Cornhusker
Marching Band. She has her Music Education Degree from the University of Kansas, degree
certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
