Instructor

Sam Clear is a current student at Texas Tech and will graduate in May 2026 with a bachelors in
music education. He is a horn player and marched mellophone in high school, college, and
drum corps. He is an avid traveler, having visited over 20 national parks in the past 3 years. He
has plans on visiting all of them more than once in the coming years!
His marching experience includes 2019-21 Guardians DBC, 2022 Santa Clara Vanguard, and
Carolina Crown in 2023. This year will be Sam’s third year as a member of the Crossmen visual
staff. In college, Sam spent five years in the Goin Band from Raiderland, having been a section
leader for three of those years, and was a part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2023.
Currently, Sam teaches at Frenship High School as the lead music and visual technician, while
also helping guide the drum majors. Previously, he taught with Crosbyton High School as the
lead music/visual technician as well.
Post graduation, Sam plans to stay in Lubbock to work as either a middle school or high school
band director. He is thrilled to be back with the Crossmen this year and cannot wait for the
season to start!
