Ryan Alm

Ryan Alm began his drum corps involvement at age 13 where he played baritone and spent six years with the Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps meeting some amazing people in the activity that would ultimately change the trajectory of his life. While obtaining his economics degree from the University of Cincinnati, Ryan began teaching visual performance and movement technique for high school marching bands and winter guards throughout the Midwest. Since then, he has stayed active in the pageantry arts as a judge, consultant, and administrator with over three decades of experience judging visual and design captions at marching band and winter guard events across the country. Ryan recently returned to this long-time passion for teaching as a member of the visual staff of the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps (2019) and the Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps (2021-2024). Since 2000, Ryan has served as President of the 9-time WGI Independent World Class Champion, Pride of Cincinnati Winter Guard, as well as the Pride Youth Development Foundation, and the Pride of Cincinnati Dance Ensemble.


Professionally, Ryan is currently Vice President of Strategy & Planning and Innovation Practice Lead for a financial services company based in Boston, MA. In his previous roles with the company, Ryan spent nearly 20 of his 29 years in various roles in the corporate learning and development space from facilitation, instructional design, eLearning development, virtual learning, instructional video, simulation, and gamified learning platforms. In his leadership roles in corporate/adult learning, Ryan led geographically dispersed teams that would go on to win industry recognition with two Brandon Hall Human Capital Management Silver Awards (Best Use of Games & Simulations for Learning <2016> and for Best Practices eLearning <2003> and apply for two patents for the skill building learning platforms developed by his team.
