Rachel Montanez

Rachel Montañez is the Colorguard Caption Head for the Crossmen and is excited to return for her third year in the role. She has been involved in the marching arts for more than 15 years, with performance experience including The Cadets, Alter Ego, Fusion, Long Island Sunrisers, and Connecticut Hurricanes. Throughout her career as an educator, Rachel has worked with the Madison Scouts, Spartans, and numerous scholastic programs across the country. She currently serves as the Colorguard Director at the University of North Texas and Paschal High School.

Outside of teaching, Rachel is a freelance graphic designer specializing in the marching arts. She believes you can have high expectations while still creating a space where people feel supported, respected, and excited to be there. For Rachel, teaching has always been about more than simply making people better performers. It’s about helping them grow, giving them a place to feel like they belong, and creating an experience they can be proud of long after the season is over.
