Maverick Peterson is a Composer, Arranger, Electronics Designer, and Educator specializing in
the marching arts. He has been composing and arranging music professionally for 18 years. His
compositions have contributed to the success of numerous ensembles, earning medals at WGI
Percussion Finals, WGI Color Guard Finals, WGI Winds Finals, and DCI Finals. Over his career,
he has taught and collaborated with more than 100 ensembles across the country and has
designed and written hundreds of shows for the marching arts.
As a co-founder of Vigilantes Indoor Percussion, Maverick served as the Front Ensemble
Coordinator, Composer, and Electronics Designer from 2013 to 2016. During his tenure, VIP
won the gold medal in Independent Open at the WGI Championships in 2016 and the bronze
medal in 2015. In 2022, he returned as the Front Ensemble Composer, Arranger, and
Electronics Designer, helping the ensemble make World Class Finals for the first time in its
history.
From 2014 to 2023, he was the Front Ensemble Composer, Arranger, and Sound Designer for
Boswell High School, helping the ensemble become Scholastic Open finalists in 2018, 2019,
and 2022. The ensemble made Scholastic World Finals for the first time in 2023.
From 2014 to 2017, Maverick served as Front Ensemble Arranger, Electronics Designer, and an
instructor for the Blue Devils B Drum and Bugle Corps. The corps won the DCI Open Class
Championships in 2014 and 2016, along with consecutive Best Percussion Awards. They also
earned the silver medal in 2015 and 2017. Before BDB, he served as the Front Ensemble
Coordinator, Arranger, and Electronics Designer for the Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps in
2010 and 2011, helping lead the ensemble to DCI Finals both years.
Maverick currently resides in Dallas, Texas. After a five-year hiatus, he returned to teaching
full-time this school year and now serves as a percussion director at Faith Family Academy in
Oak Cliff, TX.
