Maia Trafton 

Maia Trafton is a Virginia native who currently studies at Baylor University under

Wiff Rudd and Mark Schubert. She participated in DCI with the Jersey Surf (2019), The

Cadets (2023), and the Santa Clara Vanguard (2022, 2024). She received the Brass

Leadership Award in 2024 and served as a soloist in 2023 and 2024.

Beyond drum corps, Maia is active in various ensembles at Baylor and has

performed at the National Trumpet Competition, both in large ensembles and as a soloist.

She has volunteered her time working with underserved marching bands, offers private

lessons to middle and high school students, and looks forward to giving back to the activity

that changed her life. She is delighted to be returning to the instructional staff at Crossmen!

Maia’s favorite bug is the North American wheel bug, with the velvet ant in close

second.
