Devon Johnson

Devon Johnson is heavily involved with percussion education all over the Oklahoma City metro, and is also involved with Zephyrus Drum and Bugle Corp, Oklahoma's only SoundSport group. He will soon be moving to the Tulsa/Muskogee area to grow more schools, private and public education in said areas.

Starting as a trombone player, at 16 Devon Johnson sprouted his path into front ensemble with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corp playing marimba, and participating in the Cavaliers 2020 “Zero to Sixty” anniversary presentation at PASIC. Then continued through until 2022, where he was given the opportunity to serve as the center marimba for the organization. He has also been center marimba for Resistance indoor percussion in 2022 as well as Rhythm X in 2023.

Since committing to teaching, he has kept up his love for front ensemble by writing warm up sequences and show material for the groups and schools that he has been with, as well as just for the fun of it. During his time off he has kept the other side of his brain active by picking up a passion for chess.
