Connor Vaughn

Connor Vaughn is the Head Band Director at McKinney North High School in McKinney, Texas,
where he leads a thriving program that includes three concert bands, two jazz bands, a color
guard, and marching band. Under his leadership, the McKinney North Marching Band has
achieved state-level recognition as a 2022 UIL State Marching Contest qualifier, 2023
participant, and made the Finals of the State Marching Contest for the first time ever in 2024.
Mr. Vaughn began his teaching career in 2016 at Creston Middle School in Indianapolis before
moving to Lawrence North High School in 2018. At Lawrence North High School, he served as
Director of Bands and Performing Arts Director, overseeing four concert bands and a jazz band
that consistently earned superior ratings. During his tenure, he also helped lead the Marching
Pride of Lawrence Township to repeated appearances as an Indiana State Finals and BOA
Grand National Semi-Finals.
In addition to his high school work, Mr. Vaughn has an extensive background in the drum corps
activity. He performed as a trumpet player with the Carolina Crown Drum & Bugle Corps
(2014–2015) and later served as an educator with the Crossmen (2016–2018), Mandarins
(2019), The Cadets (2020–2023), and The Cavaliers (2024).
An Indianapolis native, Mr. Vaughn is a proud graduate of Butler University, where he earned his
Bachelor of Music Education degree and was honored with the Edgar J. Axom Future Music
Educator Award.
Mr. Vaughn is passionate about developing student musicianship, leadership, and character. He
is committed to building programs that emphasize excellence, community, and the
transformative power of music.
