David Borland
Board Chair

David has been a high-tech leader throughout his career, most recently serving as Director of Artificial Intelligence Acceleration at Amazon Web Services. He brings a broad background in engineering and executive leadership, including co-founding Calxeda, a high-tech startup, and serving as Director of Engineering for Intel’s cellular phone team. He continues to add value through mentorship in both the high-tech sector and the performing arts.
David is deeply committed to “paying it forward” to music education and performance programs that develop strong life skills—programs that helped lay the foundation for his own personal and professional success. An active musician, he plays trombone in three bands/orchestras, is a DCI Diamond Friend, and has attended 40 consecutive DCI Finals. He also volunteers with the Westlake High School Band (Austin) and supports music education advocacy through the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA).
In addition, David serves as Board Chair of the Alliance to Cure Cavernous Malformations, an organization dedicated to driving a cure and improving the lives of those affected by cavernous malformations.
David lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife, a color guard instructor. They have a son who is a software engineer with Amazon Devices, an active trumpet player in two Austin-area bands, leads the Crossmen tech team and is a food truck volunteer.
David is excited to work with Crossmen Productions to help create life-changing eXperiences that teach excellence, perseverance, teamwork, and character.
