VOLUNTEER WITH THE CROSSMEN!

As Crossmen prepare to kick off the upcoming season, we are thankful for the countless number of volunteers who have helped make this organization a special place to be! “Together, we can make a difference” has been a familiar phrase in the world of volunteering, and the Crossmen organization is no exception. Each year, we rely on volunteers to help Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps function at the highest level. Quite simply, we cannot do it without you! Whether you give one day or one month, volunteers are the backbone of non-profit organizations worldwide.

Will YOU volunteer at Crossmen?

Your time, skills, and resources allow corps members to have the experience of a lifetime, and in turn you build great new friendships with each other, the staff, members and alumni of the corps.

WHO DO I CONTACT FOR MORE INFORMATION?

Willow Waters serves as the Volunteer Coordinator for Crossmen Drum Corps. If you are interested or have any questions, please send him an e-mail or call 210-627-6122.

WHAT CAN VOLUNTEERS DO AT CAMPS OR DURING TOUR?

Camp weekends are full of rewarding work that serves the staff and young performers who attend. If you are interested in volunteering your time and talents in the following areas, please click the button below to fill out the form.

Food Services
Crossmen Food Services prepare six total meals for approximately 200 people at our rehearsal camps. We would love to have you come and stay with us at the school for the weekend, or just stop by for a meal shift. There is no need to be a skilled cook to work on the food truck. The Crossmen Food Services Manager and our experienced volunteers are glad to quickly show you how to get involved with serving great food to the campers and staff.

Airport/Bus Station Shuttles
Many staff members and campers travel through local airports and bus stations on Friday and Sunday of a camp weekend. We always provide local transportation for the Crossmen family, and we would love to have your help with this service.

Uniforms
At camps beginning in January, we spend time fitting members for uniforms, maintaining our inventory, and altering uniforms. Most of the work does not even require sewing skills.

Merchandise Sales
Crossmen merchandise and souvenirs are made available during camp registration on Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Volunteers are needed to unpack, display, and sell merchandise during these times. For the Experience/Audition camps from about 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM on Friday and 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Sunday.

Registration Assistance
We utilize several adults to help with setting up registration and organizing member paperwork on Friday night of camp, from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

Equipment Projects/Repairs/Craftsmen
Crossmen almost always have room for improvement in our trailers and equipment. If you are skilled at working with wood, metal (welding), or electricity, we would love to have you help the corps with repairs or improvements. For specific questions about equipment repair and maintenance, please email Fred Morrison.

WHERE CAN VOLUNTEERS STAY DURING THE CAMP WEEKEND?

We always designate a “Volunteer Sleeping Room,” usually a classroom, at every school where we stay. You are welcome to bring sleeping gear and air beds set up in this sleeping room for Friday night through Sunday morning of camp. Showers are also provided at the school, and meals are free from the Crossmen food truck. This arrangement is the most fun for the volunteers—it gives them a taste of the drum corps lifestyle, as well as a way to get to know the staff, members, and what the corps is accomplishing in rehearsal.

Volunteers sometimes stay locally with family, friends, or at a hotel during an audition or rehearsal camp. If you live nearby or will be staying off-site, you can still help during the weekend. Just let us know when you are available, and we will be happy to set you up with a few specific hours of work when we know we can use your help!

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

On behalf of the entire organization THANK YOU for being a part of the Crossmen Volunteer Program! For more information, or to sign up today, please click the button below to fill out the form. As always, feel free to contact us directly with any questions by sending us an email. We look forward to sharing in this enriching experience with you and hope to see you at a Crossmen rehearsal or event soon!

THE CHARLOTTE ROBINSON MEMORIAL CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

At the end of the 2019 season, Fred Morrison had the honor of telling the Crossmen members the story of Charlotte and Robby Robinson and their impact on the Crossmen throughout our 45 years of history. From Allentown on, each performance was #ForCharlotte. Each day had deep meaning and value that went beyond our incredible production.

Charlotte and Robby were instrumental in the growth of the Crossmen Drum Corps from 1974 into the 1980’s and beyond. If you ask any member from that era about Charlotte’s influence, they will talk about how their drum corps “Mom” was such a positive and loving influence in their lives.

As we mourn the loss of this wonderful woman, our community has expressed their desire to honor her in the greatest way we can as a whole—to supply a NEW food truck to the next 40 years of Crossmen. What better way to thank our Crossmen Mom and her great legacy than to PROVIDE to the next generations of Crossmen?

GOAL: $350,000 by August 31, 2020.
