Jazmine Holguin

Jazmin Holguin was born and raised in San Diego, California. She has been involved in the performing arts since she was in Elementary school. In 4th – 6th grade, she joined a Nationally ranked Pop Warner Cheer Team known as the Rancho Bernardo Riptides. Due to their dedication and strong work ethic, Jazmin and her team consistently medaled at competitions, leading them to placing 4th at Nationals in Orlando, Florida.

In 7th grade, she joined the inaugural year of Lealta All Stars, an Independent Regional A Color Guard Team. As the organization was expanding, she also participated in their Summer Intensive Program involving more advanced choreography with sabre, rifle, flag, and dance.

In high school, Jazmin auditioned and was selected for the Rancho Bernardo HS World Class color guard as a freshman. They competed at WGI in Dayton, Ohio during the 2010 and 2011 season under the direction of Rob Jett, Michele Mignogna, Robby Jacobson, Swaga Deb, and Allan Dekko. Here she continued her training in jazz, hip hop, modern, and contemporary dance all while perfecting the art of spinning sabre, rifle, and flag. Jazmin then became Captain for the 2013 season.

After high school, Jazmin experimented in various performance opportunities such as joining the competitive Hip Hop team, Syde FX, in 2014. She then ventured back into color guard by joining the San Diego State University Aztec Winter Guard in 2015, which led to being captain for the 2016 season.

In the summer of 2016, Jazmin aged out and received a silver medal with the Concord Blue Devils. She studied under the direction of Scott Chandler, T.J. Doucette, Robby Jacobson, and David Ziehm. The color guard peaked with a nearly perfect score of 19.9 on finals night. In efforts to experience one more year with the organization, Jazmin auditioned and was accepted to be a part of Blue Devils International 2020, but the European tour was canceled due to the rise of Covid-19.

Continuing her world class career, she joined Fantasia Winter Guard for the 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 seasons studying under Tim Mikan, Ashley Mikan, Robby Jacobson, Jose Peña, and Chris Velez. Jazmin was fortunate enough to be featured as a soloist for the production of “Judy”, “Rebirth: A Symphonic Motion”, and “You’re With Me Still”.

Currently Jazmin teaches at San Diego State University as a color guard instructor. She has been instructing the Independent A/Open Class Color Guard since 2017. She had the privilege of instructing for the inaugural year of the Fantasia Performance Academy in the summer of 2019. Jazmin also taught at Mt. Carmel HS, Nogales HS, and Telesis Academy of Math & Science. She was a choreographer for the Theatre and Vocal Music departments at Rancho Bernardo High School for the past 7 years. Jazmin continues to instruct and choreograph for color guards, dance workshops, and show choirs of all ages throughout Southern California.
