Ben Ayers is incredibly excited to be joining the amazing staff at The Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps! Mr. Ayers is from Arlington Texas and graduated from The University of North Texas with a degree in Music Education. Prior to graduation, he performed as a French Horn and Eb Alto Horn player with the UNT Wind Ensemble and Brass Band under the direction of Dr. Nicholas Williams, He has also been an integral member of the UNT Green Brigade and the UNT Basketball Band under the direction of Dr. Nicholas Williams, and Dr. Daniel Cook . During his time with the Green Brigade he was a marching technician and the Student Assistant to the Director for two years. While at North Texas, he was an avid performer of chamber music, jazz music and Nova music. 

Mr. Ayers has worked with several outstanding band programs in the North Texas area, including the Coppell High School marching band, Rock Hill High School marching band, and the Azle High School indoor winds. He student taught in Frisco ISD at Griffin Middle School under the direction of Carolyn Cansler and in Allen ISD at Allen High School under the direction of Dr. Philip Obado. He currently resides as Associate Director of Bands at Frisco Memorial High School. He is an active member of Texas Music Educator’s Association(TMEA), National Association for Music Education(NAfME), Texas Bandmaster’s Association(TBA), and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. 

Mr. Ayers also has a successful background in drum corps marching both Trumpet and Mellophone. During his time in DCI he marched with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2015, The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps in 2017, and the Blue Devils Drum Corps in 2018 and 2019 winning the DCI World Championship. During High School Mr. Ayers was also a 2 time TMEA All State musician on French Horn. 

Mr. Ayers currently lives in Denton Texas with his dogs, Artemis and Athena, he loves watching the Stars, Rangers, Mavericks, Cowboys, and especially all the UNT teams. He’s an avid fisherman and will take any chance to go on a hike and find a hidden waterfall.
