Rance Costa
Rance is the Principal at Razor BP, Inc. His company provides new media and technology consultation services to production houses and large agencies in the Los Angeles area. Frequently surprising his clients with low cost alternatives, Rance's efforts through Razor BP have empowered Hollywood studios by assisting them in updating their aging analog equipment and finding cutting edge methods to compete for today's digital media-addicted audience.
Rance began his DCI career as a member of the brass line for the BlueKnights in 1997. He marched in the brass line until 2000, performingat DCI World Championship Finals each of his four seasons (Contra Bass 1997, Mellophone 1998 and Euphonium in 1999, 2000) on G-bugles. This talent at multiple instruments provides an invaluable insight to accurately relate the sensations his students feel while playing on their respective instruments, and students respond quickly and positively to this information.
Rance began teaching instrumental music, movement, and calisthenics at Denver-area high schools in 1998. It was also at this time that Rance met his trombone professor -- Buddy Baker -- at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. While Rance attended UNC Greeley, he founded RazorBP as a boutique web design firm to pay for his drum corps dues and other expenses and played Sousaphone in the "Pride of the Rockies" marching band. He also taught music, marching, and choreographed drill for various high school marching bands and indoor percussion ensembles from Northglenn, Thornton, Legacy, Broomfield, Dakota Ridge, Wheat Ridge, Eaglecrest, Bear Creek, Westminster, Lakewood, D'Evelyn and Monarch High Schools in the Denver Metro area.
He was WGI's webmaster for three years under Lynn Lindstrom and won a WGI World Championship as a member of the 1997 WGI PSW World Champion Northglenn Percussion Theater performing on tympani in the famous "Water World" production.
Rance has served on the brass staff for the Troopers for two seasons and the Colts for five seasons, and is excited to return for his second season with the Bones!
