Rachel “Montana” Montanez - Instructor

Rachel “Montana” Montanez began her color guard career at Mineola High School in 2008. She enjoyed four years of high school marching band and winter guard, where under her captainship, she has won a NYSFBC Championship (2009) and was a WGI A Class Finalist (2011).  She went on to march Independent World with Alter Ego (2013, 2017, 2018) and was a WGI World Class Finalist. Montana has also performed with many other note-worthy organizations such as The Long Island Sunrisers (2009, 2011), The Connecticut Hurricanes (2012) and The Cadets (2013 – 2015).

Montana found an irresistible attachment to color guard at a young age and had the urge to share that passion with other young performers as soon as she graduated high school. Montana has had the pleasure of teaching programs such as Mineola High School (NY), Division Avenue HS (NY), Stony Brook University, Dartmouth HS (MA) and the Oregon Crusaders.

Outside of color guard, Montana enjoys playing rugby, going to Crossfit and reading. She graduated from Molloy College with her B.A. in Mathematics and is currently a financial advisor for Northwestern Mutual.

Montana is grateful to have the opportunity to be on staff with the Crossmen for the 2018 season! She can’t wait for the summer to begin!
