2012 Crossmen Brass Addition Announced 

Crossmen Brass Caption Head, Jason Buckingham is pleased to announce a new addition to our 2012 instructional team. "Kristin Atkinson is a great addition to our team, " stated Jason Buckingham. "Not only is Kristin an experienced Texas educator she is a passionate drum corps person that will add to the chemistry of an already strong committed staff."

Since 2010 Ms. Kristin Atkinson has been the Lead Assistant Band Director at Lake Highlands High School band, located in the Richardson ISD. At Lake Highlands she is the conductor of the Symphonic Band and Lesson Program Coordinator for the Lake Highlands area bands. From 2007-2010 she was the Assistant Band Director at Juan Seguin High School. While at Seguin Ms. Atkinson served as conductor of the Symphonic Band in addition to assisting with the Cougar and Varsity Marching Bands. 

Prior to teaching, Ms. Atkinson received her Master’s in Performance and Literature and Arts Leadership certificate from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Ms. Atkinson, a native of Lewisville, Texas earned her Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Education and Performance Certificate from The University of Texas at Austin. 

Ms. Atkinson has a passion for drum corps and in the summer of 2001 she performed with The Cadets, a nine-time World Champion drum and bugle corps. Ms. Atkinson also is an active musician in the professional wind ensemble based in Dallas, the Lone Star Wind Orchestra.
