Melissa began her marching career at Washington Township High School in New Jersey from 1999 to 2002. She joined the Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps as a member of their cymbal line in 2002 and 2003. This was also the first year she got involved in the Indoor activity with United Percussion. She was a member in 2003, 2005, and 2006 winning bronze medals in WGI Percussion Independent Open twice.
After moving to Monterey and then Moreno Valley, California, Melissa marched Impulse Drum and Bugle Corps in 2007. She won a world championship in WGI Percussion Independent World with Riverside Community College in 2007 and aged out in 2008 winning a silver medal.
Some of Melissa’s teaching experience includes Rancocas Valley High School 2005, La Quinta High School 2007, and Valley View High School 2007. The highlight of her teaching career came last year winning a Gold Medal in WGI Percussion Independent World as the Cymbal Tech for Pulse Percussion. She currently still teaches at Pulse and is very excited for another amazing season in 2011. Melissa is incredibly excited for this opportunity to join the Crossmen family and continue the important tradition of the Bones Cymbal Line
