Jeleesa Levy - Instructor/Dance Program Coordinator

Jeleesa has always had a love for the performing arts. She started dancing at the age of 3 and was constantly submerged in the arts growing up. Coming from a military family, she relocated numerous times before settling down in Georgia. In high school, Jeleesa stumbled upon color guard and has  been captivated by the art form ever since. She went on to continue performing with Aureus Independent, Georgia Tech Marching Band, Carolina Crown, and Pride of Cincinnati. During her time in college, she also joined the Purple Elephant Society hip-hop dance company in Atlanta.

Over the course of time, Jeleesa discovered a love for teaching and working with youth and young adults. She has taught or choreographed for the following programs: Aureus Independent, Bravo Dance Center, East Lake High School, East Paulding High School, Forsyth Central High School, Georgia State University, Georgia Tech Color Guard, Hickory Hills Elementary School, Mill Creek High School, Norcross High School, Reverie Independent Open and A, Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps, University of Cincinnati Winter Guard, and the University of Georgia Winter Guard.

However Jeleesa's passion for dance was so strong that she was compelled to return to college and study the art form. In 2014, Jeleesa was accepted into the dance program at Kennesaw State University under the direction of Dr. Ivan Pulinkala. During her time at KSU she studied multiple genres of dance including jazz, modern, ballet, African, tap and other sub genres. Jeleesa was a member of the KSU Dance Company and Nu Delta Alpha the dance honor society. She performed at the American College Dance Festival, Dance Canvas, the Zuckerman Museum of Art and both KSU fall and spring dance concerts. In 2016, Jeleesa was accepted into the inaugural dance study abroad program and traveled to Israel and worked with the world renowned Batsheva Dance Company.

Jeleesa graduated summa cum laude from Kennesaw State University in May 2017 earning her B.A. in dance with a concentration in jazz. She also holds a Bachelors degree from Georgia State University in Journalism with a double concentration in Speech and African-American Studies.

Jeleesa is currently in her 10th year of teaching at McEachern High School in Powder Springs, GA. She also currently teaches dance at Kennesaw Mountain High School during the day working with their guard program. And subs at Bravo Dance Center under the direction of Carolyn Crumpton Perry. She also performs as a Six Flags Entertainment dancer during the holiday season. She is extremely excited to be joining Crossmen for her 2nd summer!
