Crossmen February Camp Update

At the end of the Crossmen February rehearsal camp, the corps performed full movements of the pre-show and opener, both based on Pat Metheny's "First Circle" and "Heat of the Day."  The 2010 show, entitled Full Circle, is already generating lots of positive feedback among the members of the corps, staff, and audience at the camp.  During other rehearsals, the hornline also played through the third movement of the show.  At the camp meeting on Friday night, Mark Chambers and Jaime Alvarez-Calderon previewed drill videos and led discussion about the design.  “We are pleased with the progress and content of the design as well as the feedback that we are getting from the corps and staff.  We hope to make this show a Crossmen Fan Favorite”  said Mark Chambers, Corps Director.

Member leadership is forming for the 2010 season.  Drum major Mike Roche, a freshman music education major from West Chester University in Pennsylvania says, "we're focusing on efficiency and enjoyment for the members right now.  We are trying to establish a right approach in our early meetings with the new member leadership."  The Crossmen leadership will still be thriving this year from talent rooted in both the northeast states and Texas regions.

Thanks to Robert E. Lee High School and band director Monica Ruiz-Mills. who hosted the Crossmen at their school for the first time.  The helpful staff, great facilities and location near the airport all contributed to this successful rehearsal weekend.  The next next rehearsal camp will be a drill camp for brass and percussion on March 26-28.  On the weekend of April 30 - May 2, the colorguard, hornline, and percussion will all be in San Antonio for a weekend of rehearsal and learning drill.
