2013 Crossmen Protest Tour

Day 11, Monday June 24th
Rehearsal Day- Bellbrook HS, Bellbrook, OH

Our friends and hosts from the might Bellbrook Band had the welcome mat out for us when we rolled into town.
We are really enjoying this mid-west tour. The night time driving miles for the corps have been very manageable. Last night we traveled less than 150 miles from the show site to our Bellbrook HS housing and rehearsal site. The short mileage and reduced time on the motor coaches allows more floor time for the corps and staff. This allows us to be fresher and ready to make great things happen in our rehearsal day. The weather has also been significantly cooler than what we typically experience when we tour in the southern part of the country early in the tour. It has been an overall great experience for all involved. We have seen more liquid sunshine too though. We can live without that!

Bellbrook and her staff made our rehearsal day very pleasant. The campus here is very large and has lots of fields and space to get everyone situated for a productive day and some quiet space for the drivers to be revitalized.

The space for our temporary office was perfect as the RV house electrical system was temporary out of service. I woke up to a sizzling sound of the inverter/charger melting down in the back room of the RV yesterday morning. Needless to say I jumped out of bed as soon as I heard it melt down and smelled the acrid smoke of melting transformer insulation. No 110 power or air conditioning in the house portion of the RV until we get this rectified somehow! Getting it fixed on Sunday was not an option but today we will be all over this problem! We also had a tire going down slowly on the rear passenger side. Two Mobile Command Center chores to attend to today.

Joel called every RV place with in 100 miles and came up with the same story, "We are backed up three weeks and can't see you no matter the extent of your emergency." This isn't encouraging! I finally thought of our friends back in San Antonio at American Dream Vacations. They always find a way to get things taken care of. Jesse in the shop said, "I'll find a mobile RV service technician in the area and get back to you with their information. Within 30 minutes he gave me the name of a local company named Reliable Mobile RV Service. Charlie, the owner said that he would be by either late this afternoon or first thing in the morning to fix us up.

Joel and I headed out to get the tire repaired so that we would be ready for Charlie if he was able to  make it out this afternoon. The tire repair ended up being something minor as the rubber washer at the valve stem had developed a slow leak. We were back at Bellbrook after spending a pleasant time with the Best One Tire folks.
Charlie confirmed that he would not make it today but would be here at 8 am. Things are looking up.

After a great run and snack, lights out came and the campus got very quiet. Good Night Crossmen!
