2013 Crossmen Protest Tour
Day 4, Monday June 17thNormally Crossmen head to Texarkana after the Toll Brothers Southlake in the Square Father's Day event. Thanks to our friends at Southlake Carroll HS and the reduced overall mileage to our first DCI show in Lexington, we are able to spend an extra day in our home state of Texas. This gives the members from the metroplex another day to have their families come by and watch rehearsal. Three of our motorcoach drivers are from the Fort Worth area so they got to spend a night at home. It appeared that this was going to be an uneventful second night on the road but the mechanical bug bit as we were leaving Dallas. One of the coaches that had been operating perfectly on the ride to and from San Antonio decided to give us fuel related fits. We stopped the convoy and in true Crossmen team like form loaded all of the suitcases in the various pieces of equipment including the food truck and cargo trailer. All of the passengers were distributed in the three remaining coaches, van, RV and tractors. This took about 45 minutes from start to finish. The guard coach when repaired was to rejoin us by the end of rehearsal in Arkansas on Monday. We pulled into our Malvern, Arkansas HS housing site 15 minutes later than originally scheduled even with the luggage and passenger consolidation. Crossmen kn ow how to get down the road with limited down time. Joe, staff and the admin team made the right call for the situation. Great work folks!
