Fragile Tour Blog - 2012 Crossmen presented by Gotta Go Trailways.com
The Crossmen members, staff and volunteers are continuing to be workmanlike in their focus. We know that a lot lies on our efforts these three days leading into Quarter Finals at Lucas Oil Stadium. Being here out in the country secluded from the world has the added benefit of allowing us to forge ahead with little to no distractions. The comfort of cabins with beds has added to our ability to be well rested across the board. Life on tour takes its toll on every facet of the organization and these three days have been a godsend. You can feel the positive vibe increasing as everyone recharges from the seventy plus days we have been together since the start of spring training with over 50 being on the move. It is also sinking in to folks that we are coming to the end of our adventure. One, two or three more performances is all that is left to be determined. We have had such a great time with this year's production. The fan and alumni response has been at a higher level than I can ever remember.
Maureen flew in today. It is so great to see her and our daughter Amy. Erik and I have had a great summer together but it is sure nice to share some of it with the lady that most of the Crossmen refer to as "mom". You can see the genuine happiness on their faces when she walks around the grounds greeting the members and staff. Our daughter Amy now lives in Oxford, OH, attending Miami University for her graduate studies in oboe performance. Amy made the drive to the Indy Airport to pick Maureen up and now both are here to share in our championship week activities. Amy remarks how much improved the corps is since she saw us in the first week of the season in Fairfield, OH.
Tonight Maureen and I drove into Indy to attend the DCI Hall of Fame Ceremony. The corps is working towards our goal of finishing strong. The celebrating can wait. We have work to do!
