Fragile Tour Blog - 2012 Crossmen presented by Gotta Go

Regional days are always higher energy days. You can tell by the breakfast time chatter that everyone is excited to get to the stadium. We rehearse like we are on a mission. Even though the skies are cloudy and building we go about our jobs. There is a touch football tournament running simultaneously with our rehearasal on the adjacent fields. Both groups have adapted and are working harmoneously. Just as we finish EPL the thunder and lightning arrive. The football tournament scatters to the buildings just vacated by the corps. You couldn't plan that if you had to. The convoy leaves the site while the rain is pouring down. No harm though as the forcast in Allentown is less than 10% chance for rain. Half way to the show site we lose the tailpipe on the RV. Nothing we can do about it now as the pipe is missing. We keep on our mission to Allentown. No delay!

The convoy arrives and parks. The members are in uniform as they progress to the park near the stadium that serves as a picnik area and warm up zone for the corps. The Annual CRossmen Alumni Association pic nik in the park is also the site of the Crossmen Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. After the inductees are introduced and awarded their medal and plaque the corps and alumni pose for section photos. Each section is visiting and comparing notes about their Crossmen experiences. Drummers gravitate to drummers, brass to brass and colorguard to colorguard. It is fun to watch the exchanges and the group photo ops. There is so much Crossmen love you can't help but feel it. Every alum that I came in contact with throughout the night remarked at how great our members are. They are so polite and such nice people. You could tell that they are very proud of their association with the 2012 Crossmen.

The corps gets down to business of a leisure warm up in preparation of their performance in front of a packed house. The staff is thrilled by the performance. It is our best to date. The crowd stood twice for the Crossmen tonight and applauded through out. After packing up, I get to spend time with my friends, Glen and Tammy Sides before we head to Pittsburgh. They have turned into real DCI Fans! This is their third event this summer! Glen helps me diagnose the damage to the hydraulic system on the RV before we depart. It won't effect our ability to go down the road. We just won't be able to extend the slides or the leveling system until we get it fixed. We head out to Pittsburgh. Hard to believe that this will be our last trip to a regular season show for 2012. The time has flown! It was a great day today. Our kids gained a real appreciation for how much they are loved and followed by all of those that came before them. They are part of a huge family tree.
