Fragile Tour Blog - 2012 Crossmen presented by Gotta Go Trailways.com
Great day for a rehearsal day! It is very pleasant here in central PA today. Partly cloudy and comfortable all day and cooler at night. The corps was afforded a good night's sleep and later wake up this morning. A little PT followed by a hardy breakfast and off to work we go. The day is devoted to cleaning and polishing our 2012 production in preparation for the big event this Saturday in Allentown. Crossmen are featured on the second day of the two day event. The park will be swarmed with alumni that day ready to cheer us on. We want to give them a very special performance to reward their loyalty. Two full days of rehearsal and no travel should set us up for success.
The alumni support is amazing when we get to the north east. Today's dinner was donated by the Terry Family. Stuffed pork chops, rice, salad and spice cake with cream cheese icing were the menu items of the day. It was delicious! The snack was donated by the Denesowicz sisters. Karen (Brenneke), Diane and Michele (Williams). Michele Williams, Karen and Jack Brenneke made the drive and the delivery. I am sure that Michele and Karen had their hands in the making of the 300 - 400 sandwiches and pasta salad for 200 that I estimate they put together for the corps, staff and volunteers. Combined with other treats they brought with them, today was a day that the Crossmen were shown how special they are to so many people. These folks love their Crossmen and they show it with their contributions of time talent and treasure and their vocal support in the stands at DCI events.
It was great to see so many alumni at ensemble rehearsal tonight also. Former Crossmen Horn Sargent, Jaime Tucker and former Crossmen Drum Major, Becky Terry were a couple of the familiar faces I recognized in the crowd.
We made real progress today. After snack and a little down time, the corps went to bed and settled in for another night with more than 8 hours on the floor. We are re-charging our batteries and polishing our show at the same time. Saturday night should be electric!
