Fragile Tour Blog-2012 Crossmen presented by Gotta Go Trailways.com- Day 36, Saturday, July 21th

Fragile Tour Blog - 2012 Crossmen presented by Gotta Go Trailways.com

Today is the biggest day of our 2012 to date. We are expecting a large Crossmen following in the stadium today. We have sold all of the tickets in the Crossmen block and know that we had many more inquiries after closing out the sales. The Crossmen parents, family, friends and alumni are out in force. Maureen, Erik and I meet up with the convoy on IH35 on their way south. We enter the lot split into two groups. Gotta Go Trailways Motorcoaches and the van go to the lot on the east side of the Alamodome. The Music Store and Mobile Command Center go to the south lot of the dome. You can feel the energy and excitement from the corps as they go about their business of unloading and going to the warm up zone.

When we enter the stadium the size of the crowd makes me smile. You can tell that there are many more folks in the stands than last summer.and they are Crossmen friendly! The burst of applause when we enter the field is the loudest that I have ever experienced. San Antonio's Crossmen are the home team and the folks in the stadium are letting us know it. The standing ovation after our most emotional performance of the summer is incredible! This was a good one!

Later in the afternoon DCI, the member corps and DCI strategic partners show their appreciation to the Chase Bank and their Chase Community Giving Facebook Campaign. The Crossmen were asked to provide the cadence and "after presentation" music. Chase Bank has awarded $20,000,000 during the multiple Facebook Campaigns they have run the last few years. Drum Corps and related strategic partners have captured over one million dollars in grants. These finds have been atremendous shot in the arm for our activity. Nest time you have a chance thank a Chase Bank employee for their generosity. Many thanks to Carolyn Watson, Global Philanthropy Chase Bank, for helping to make the presentation a reality. Carolyn was a band student in high school and has a real appreciation of what music can do for young people. I think we made a new Drum Corps fan in the process. We look forward to Carolyn attending moreDCI events in the future. After the Chase Bank presentation the Crossmen played the corps song, Russian Christmas Music, to the delight of the home town audience.

After some free time the convoy loads up and heads back the our Canyon HS housing site. Tomorrow is I&E day followed by free time on the Riverwalk.
