Fragile Tour Blog-2012 Crossmen presented by Gotta Go Trailways.com
We definitely experienced a change in the weather today. The 84 dry and sunny weather that we have experienced the last 10 days or so has turned into muggy and oppressive soup. None of us were ready for that change in lifestyle! We are staying at a familiar site, the Monmouth County High School in Monmouth County NJ.
After the two block day everyone was ready to get cooled off in our Gotta Go Trailways motorcoaches on the way to the show site. The show site is another familiar Crossmen haunt as we have participated in the Jackson Show on many occasions. Things were moving along pretty well and the push back of the show time start helped us as the temps started to moderate. Off in the distance though the clouds started to build and turn a greenish gray. We called everyone back to the motorcoaches from their warm up areas. Things that could be damaged by wind and rain were loaded on the truck in record time. The pit tarped and bungied all of their gear in order to protect it. We had everyone on their buses with about 30 seconds to spare. It wouldn't have happened if we didn't work together like a fine tuned machine. After about 30 minutes of lightning, heavy downpour and wind the skies cleared and the full arc of a beautiful rainbow appeared beyond the stadium. The show start time was delayed by an additional hour. The conditions now are beautiful. Crossmen had another great performance with an awesome reaction by the crowd.
Tonight could have been a total washout but things worked out in the long run. We had lots of support from alumni and friends in Jackson. Multi-year (1975, 76, 77, 78 & 79) Crossmen Alum, Brian Law provided a special treat of Philadelphia soft pretzels for the entire corps. The generosity of the people we encounter on our journey together makes the road easier for all. Thank you Brian!
