Fragile Tour Blog-2012 Crossmen presented by Gotta Go Trailways.com
The ride from New Haven to Mt. Hope HS in Bristol was short, pleasant and uneventful. Just like we like them. Our Mt. Hope HS housing site also doubles as the show site for tomorrow nights DCI event. Today will be a welcome and much deserved photo day/laundry day followed by some free time. The Jolesch folks are here in the morning to take photos for our yearbook and to make them available on their website for friends and family to purchase. The percussion section and staff are slated to take a tour of the Zildjian Factory followed by a trip to the laundry mat. Guard and brass are heading out to laundry after photos and then time in Providence, RI.
The Zildjian family treated our percussion people to a wonderful afternoon. Everyone that I talked to after their return couldn't say enough about what a great experience it was. The remarkable history of the Zildjian company is a real walk back in time. The company is one of the oldest continuously operated manufacturing companies in the world. Their roots extend back to 1623 in Istanbul, Turkey. Founded by Avedis Zildjian, his descendants still play a major role owning and operating the company today. Current CEO, Craigie Zildjian, posed for photographs with our Crossmen touring folks to their delight. Lots of great Crossmen memories were made today! The Norwalk, MA based company is truly an American treasure known around the world for manufacturing the finest cymbals know to man. Crossmen have enjoyed their support for many years. Crossmen endorse Zildjian Cymbals exclusively!
