Fragile Tour Blog-2012 Crossmen presented by Gotta Go Trailways.com
Our Guilford housing site is on a beautiful piece of real estate. There are tall pine trees and green rolling hills. The temperatures are pleasant. It is very peaceful and quiet, when I wake at 6:30 am in order to take care of some e-mails and get ready for mass. Erik and I hop in the van for the 4 mile trip to downtown Guilford. Entering the town is like stepping back in time. Victorian houses line the treed route. The town central has a square and old town row of merchants on either side of the St. George Catholic Church. The church had a classic New England feel and the grounds are immaculate.
After church we found our way back to the school. The corps is up for breakfast and the normal beehive of activity is in high gear. Breakfast, PT and sectionals...check..check..check...
The afternoon ensemble was a whole other story. The thunder clouds were gathering northwest of us and the lightning was off in the distance. Jason made a good call in the interest if safety and pulled the plug early. No run through today. The benefit was a longer more relaxing EPL after rallying the troops to load the equipment truck quickly. The storm brought the temps down a little but no rain fell to our relief. The ride to the stadium was relaxing and the warm up went well for all. The campus is really nice here in New Haven but things are very spreadout. We got to enjoy another performance under the lights. The crowd rewarded us with many applause moments and a standing ovation. Crossmen were also able to perform the encore. Hallelujah and Russian Christmas Music continue to give me goose bumps. This was a very pleasant night for drum corps all the way around. Many thanks to the Boston Crusader organization for hosting the show. Special thanks and congratulations to new father of twins, Crusader Director, Tom Spataro.
