Crossmen Tour 37 "renewal" Day 41-Adairsville HS - Adairsville, GA -Rehearsal Day
Friday, July 29th 2011- Crossmen Tour 37 "renewal" Day 41-Adairsville HS - Adairsville, GA- Rehearsal Day
This has been a great week for the Crossmen regarding implementing the last changes and polishing our show. Ed Devlin has done a remarkable job with our drill this year. He has refined it along the way. The latest changes have been an immediate upgrade. His presence on the tower at visual rehearsal has yielded great gains in clarity of the sets. The guard has also hit another gear in performance improvement. The few music changes have also made a mark on the improvment of our performance both in brass and percussion. The productivity is obvious.
I had the pleasure of meeting the football coach at Adairsville. Coach is a very big band supporter. He stopped me on my way back to our mobile office after the ensemble in order to tell me how much he apprciated the quality of our music and the performance level and talent of our members. After running his two a day football practices he sat and watched our ensemble rehearsal. In our post rehearsal conversation I was able to tell him about Drum Corps International and our pending competition on Saturday in the Georgia Dome. He was amazed. Coach marched in his college band and could really relate and appreciate what we were doing in our rehearsal day here. We have a lot of potential for growth in Drum Corps. I am always encouraged by the numbers of people that are not aware of what we do and who are potential attendees at our events. All of us must be Drum Corps Evangelists in order to ensure the continued health and well being of our activity. We have a great story and we should tell it where ever possible. I am sure we made a friend and a fan for drum corps today. I am very happy that the Adairsville coach sought me out in order for him to give me the benefit of hispositive feedback. You could tell he understood the impact we were making on young peoples development.
After rehearsal under the lights was completed. The 100 or so audience members stood up and gave the Crossmen a round of applause. It must be contagious! Lights out after snack. Big regional day tomorrow!
