Crossmen Tour 37 "renewal" Day 34
Thurssday, July 21th- Seymour HS, Seymour, TX- Rehearsal Day
We have another day in the high temps zone but another low humidity day. It is almost comfortable in the sun. Our friends at Seymour HS have opened their doors to us for rehersal as we make our way to Odessa for our next show. We are able to accomplish a lot of further cleaning of the new stuff and polish the rest. The turnout for ensemble tonight was pretty nice! It included our host, Scooter Miller, some of his band students and a few folks from the community. They appear to fully enjoy themselves. After the run through and prior to corps dismissal the entire corps shouted, "Thank you Mr. Miller", in unison and in order to recognize the generosity of our host.
EPL started with the end of ensemble at 9:30 pm. The 90 minute process of eating, packing the equipment truck, dismantling the scaffold and loading it, cleaning the dishes, packing the food truck, showering, loading the buses, cleaning the facilities and being in your seat by 10:50 pm for our 11 pm departure has become automatic for the Crossmen. The corps this summer has gone about their business in a very professional manner. No drama. Just get it done! I am so very proud of the members, instructional team, design team and administrative team. They are pros. We have to give credit to the new staff for setting the expectation of professionalism from day one. The student leadership also set the tone starting in November. Their actions said,"We want the Crossmen to be viewed as professionals going abut the business of drum corps." In my opinion, this is the best group for having their act together top to bottom in the five years of my tenure with the Crossmen. Nice work folks! On to Odessa!
