Crossmen Tour 37 "renewal" Day 27
Thursday, July 14th- Owatonna High School - Owatonna, MN-Rehearsal Day
The RV and the staff coach catch the rest of the convoy at the first rest stop. The trip is pretty smooth and uneventful. We roll into the Owatonna HS housing site ahead of schedule at 5:45 am and there is a slight drizzle. The parade of rolling suitcases finds its way to the sleeping areas. It reminds me of a zombie movie with all of the members, staff and volnteers in a state of semi-consiousness as the roll their stuff into the building.
The rain picks up as the morning progresses. We are scheduled to wake the corps at 10 am. With the increase in rainfall the schedule is pushed back 30 minutes. After breakfast the process of learning the drill changes and music adjustments begins. The rain is cold and the members are dressed in hoodies and rain gear if they have it. The temps are in the low 60's.
By 12:30 the rain stops and sun shines! It is another great day for working out the kinks in our production. Jason, Rance and Al Chez are back so we are a full house brass staff wise. Everyone is glad to have them back and you can tell that they are happy to be back with the corps. They are rejuvinated and the new energy is contagious.
Rehearsal goes as planned with all of the improvements in place and comfortable. We have made some real progress today. It is lights out at 11 with a full rehearsal day planned for Friday.
