Crossmen Tour 37 "renewal" Day 24
Monday, July 11th Davenport North HS, Davenport, Iowa- Davenport Show Day
I awoke this morning at 6:15 am to the sound of howling wind, rain, thunder and lightning. The temperature plummeted with the arrival of the storm. The good news is that it is a fast moving front and it passed in 40 minutes. Field lining and scaffolding crews delayed their chores until the light show passed in the distance. The skies cleared shortly after breakfast. We didn't lose a minute of rehearsal time. The temperature climbed all day along with the humidity. This is feeling more like summer.
the Davenport North High School is a beautiful place. The facilities appear to be brand new. There are plenty of fields to rehearse and the fields are well kept and manicured.
After EPL we depart at the stroke of 5 as planned and made the short drive to the show site. The warm up areas and the walk to the gate are the shortest of the summer. Tonight's performance was not our strongest and the corps members seemed to feel it. We will put this one behind us and get right back at it in the morning. The convoy has a short trip tonight of approximately 120 miles to El Paso Gridley, HS in El Paso, IL. Seems like Texas!
