Crossmen Tour 37 "renewal" Day 19-Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

Crossmen Tour 37 "renewal" Day 19
Wednesday, July 6th Brick Township High School, Brick, NJ -Jackson, NJ Show Day

The Crossmen seem to respond to the much deserved added rest. They go right to work on improving their personal performance in order to improve the collective performance. This is a very inspired group of teammates. We are always looking for that "next" best rep thanks to inspirational teaching.

The short day has an additional twist. There are no working showers at this housing site so our show host, YEA made arrangements with a local health club to allow us the use of their shower facilities. This requires us to EPL and then drive 10 miles to the local LA Fitness in order to clean up. The members are voting these shower facilities "Best on Tour" so far.

The Jackson Show brings out the alumni again. It seems like "Home Show" number 4 or 5...I have lost count. Crossmen are bringing people out of the woodwork this year. A much anticipated treat is that Crossmen Alum, Mark Thurston, is here to speak to the Crossmen. Mark is a legendary force in the DCI and WGI percussion world. Crossmen Hall of Fame member, Mark Thurston, was a member of the famous Crossmen snare lines from 1979 to 1982. Mark was also a staff member and percussion arranger from 1983 till 1996. All of the staff and members looked forward to his words of wisdom and encouragement. Mark is a first class individual and we welcome his input. Mark and I have exchanged messages over the last couple of years but this time I get to meet him and shake his hand and thank him for his willingness to speak to our membership. Mark is always welcome at the Crossmen. Thank you Mark!

Maureen, sisters in law Linda and Susan make the drive from Philly to watch their favorite drum corps in action. Maureen has missed all of the members and staff. Greetings and hugs all around. Maureen supplies the snack of Rita's Water Ice and Tomato Pie for the 200 hungry Crossmen folks. The Philadelphia special treats don't last long! There are lots of happy folks around our convoy in the lot tonight.

We had another improved performance in spite of the tall grass on the natural field tonight.

We load and make a the long drive to Akron, OH. Our Mobile Command Center pilot, Tammy Bartley, jumped off tour this morning. Our old friend Terry Green has assumes the controls for the 400 plus mile trek tonight. Thank you Tammy! We miss your smiling face already! Tammy's two boys Ethan and Tristan are both in the Crossmen hornline this year.
