Crossmen Tour 37 "renewal" Day 7
Suitland HS Rehearsal/Laundry
The Crossmen are enjoying the change of weather. It's funny to hear the local people talk about how hot it is when the temperature is in the mid to high 80's after we experienced 100+ everyday for 3 weeks. The members are wearing their hoodies when the sun goes down. Amazing difference in perspective. We are truly enjoying the change. You can get a lot of work done when you are comfortable.
We are joined during part of our day by band director host at Suitland HS, Tim Dignen. Tim is a Crossmen alum and loves to teach his students about Drum Corps and especially about Crossmen. I sent him a few videos of the corps a couple of months ago so that his students could see what is possible if you work hard. One of his students, Matt, was around the whole time we were there carrying a pair of snare sticks. You could tell what Matt's dream is. We hope to see him in a Crossmen uniform someday.
Laundry Day is a nice change of pace for the members and staff. The lack of lights in the stadium make it a natural to take the evening block off to wash clothes and have a sit down meal at a local eatery. Lights out at 11 and 8 hours on the floor will make for a renewed corps in preparation for the Arlington Show.
