Crossmen Tour 37 "renewal" Day 6- Show Day- Pittsburgh
2011 Crossmen Tour 37 Day 6- Thursday, June 23 nd-Pittsburg, PA- Show Day
The weather we have experienced for rehearsals has been very cool and enjoyable compared to the furnace we experienced in Texas for three weeks during spring training. The benefit to the heat is that it made us stronger. The 2011 Crossmen will not wilt in the heat. We are like the strongest steel forged in the furnace at Blossom. We are experiencing over 20 degrees in reduced temperatures each day since our trip north began. The members have resorted to wearing hoodies in the morning. Nice!
The day is overcast until a brief rain shower during lunch. The sun is out at Whitehall Elementary School for the afternoon block. After packing up, showers and a meal we leave for the show site in Pittsburg. We know the area as we were here last summer. Tonight's performance is dedicated to Maureen's Uncle Jack who passed away on Wednesday.Uncle Jack, I know that you are watching tonight. Thank you for all of your support of the Crossmen. Keep smiling on us.
This venue is the scene of the infamous Crossmen bus stuck at the bottom of the hill requiring a tow truck and a 2 hour departure delay in 2010. The last thing we wish to do in 2011 is experience that again!
Crossmen step off first. We have our best performance of the young season. The crowd is very receptive to what we are playing and performing. We have multiple applause reactions by the fans during our 11 minutes in the spotlight. Tonight the drum majors wear their special retreat uniforms that are a throwback to the 70’s. Thank you Scott and Annie for a great job manufacturing all of the special pieces to this new look for the Crossmen drum majors.
Time to depart for Maryland and the Washington, DC area.
