2011 Crossmen Tour 37 Day One

2011 Crossmen Tour 37- "renewal" Day One!- June 18th

The 2011 version of the Crossmen did a great job today packing up, cleaning up and loading up for departure for Austin, TX. The first load out is usually the most intense. This group went about their business in a professional manner from top to bottom. This is usually a good indication on how the summer is going to go. We have high hopes!

After an on time departure from Blossom, the corps made our traditional Wal-mart stop at the Super Center off FM 3009 on the outskirts of San Antonio. The 60 minute stop allowed everyone a chance to stock up on tour supplies for the next week or so.

We arrive at Austin with plenty of time to spare. Warming up in the park close to the Capital building we attract a curious crowd. The uniform changes have added a special refreshing look to the corps. The white gloves, gauntlets and plumes pop. The 16 piece small brass ensemble played the National Anthem for the group of spectators on the lawn of the State Capital kicking off our 5 th annual appearance at this venue.

The performance of “renewal” brought many applause outbursts from the appreciative crowd. After our performance there was a mass brass performance by the 4 corps brass lines in attendance of “Texas Our Texas” and “America O’Canada”. Afterwards, it was time for loading up, snack and departure for the home of the Southlake Carroll Dragons, Southlake Carroll High School.
