Martin Montoya - Visual Instruction

Martin Montoya currently serves as Director of Bands at Brazoswood High School, where he has taught since 2010.  Mr. Montoya has been fortunate to be involved with the Brazoswood Band during many milestones, including its selection as the 2013 TMEA State Honor Band, qualification for U.I.L. State Marching Contest in 2010, 2012, and 2016, and its selection as the Sudler Flag of Honor recipient from the John Philip Sousa Foundation in 2016.

Prior to joining the Brazoswood faculty, Montoya taught in Michigan at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, from 2005-2009, where he served in various capacities, including Interim Director of Bands for the 2008-2009 school year. Under his direction, the Plymouth-Canton Marching Band made its 20th appearance as a Top 12 Finalist at the Bands of America Grand National Championships. While in Michigan, Montoya also served on the music faculty of Spring Arbor University.

Martin holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Education from Texas State University and a Master of Music Degree in Trombone Performance from Michigan State University. In the summers of 2001 and 2002, he had the honor of performing with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps winning the DCI Championship both years.

Martin has held prior instructional and design positions with the Madison Scouts, Carolina Crown, Guardians, Genesis, and Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps; and is excited to be a part of the Crossmen team, alongside so many outstanding educators.
