Hunter Bown - Brass Instruction

Hunter Bown, a native of Houma, Louisiana, is honored and excited to join the Crossmen brass staff in 2016. Hunter is currently an assistant band director at Timber Creek High School in Fort Worth, TX, where he assists with the marching and concert ensembles and also teaches AP Music Theory. He received his formal training from University of North Texas, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in music education - trumpet. At North Texas, he spent the 2012 and 2013 Fall seasons as a drum major of the UNT Green Brigade, receiving the Bandsman of the Year Award and the Leadership Award for the 2013 season.

An advocate of advancing the marching arts, he founded the University of North Texas Marching Arts Forum, a group of about forty students that meet with the intent of spreading knowledge about the activity to all interested. The group has since spread across the country to form multiple chapters. He served as Drum Major of Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2012 and Drum Major of the DCI World Champions Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps from 2013 to 2015.
