Drew Anderson - Battery Instruction

Drew became interested in marching percussion with his involvement in the Newsome High School marching band in Lithia, Florida. From there he joined Brahma from USF for the 2009 and 2010 seasons, performing in WGI PIO Finals. Drew then joined Big 8, the drumline of the Florida State University Marching Chiefs. He marched snare at Big 8 from 2010-13, serving as section leader in 2013. Drew marched DCI with Crossmen in 2011 and with The Cadets in 2012-13. In 2013, The Cadets percussion section was awarded the Fred Sanford Award for high percussion.

In 2014, he moved to Ohio for the indoor season to join Rhythm X. Rhythm X received the bronze medal and 1st place in Music in WGI PIW class. Drew is excited to be back on the gulf coast, teaching groups in the state of Florida. He has previously taught Seminole, Newsome, Chamberlain, Robinson and Leon High Schools, along with WGI PIO ensemble Marcato, as well as being Assistant Director/Battery Coordinator for Ancient City Ensemble for the 2016 season. Drew spent the summers of 2015 and 2016 as the snare tech for the Colts in DCI World Class. This upcoming indoor season, Drew will be the Educational Coordinator and Battery Arranger for Ancient City Ensemble from Tampa, FL.

Drew has worked with and learned from many of the most effective educators in the marching percussion world. He has drawn his teaching methods and philosophies from those experiences as well as his experience as a classroom teacher and from the knowledge and insight he gained while attaining his Master’s in the Art of Teaching degree from USF. Drew is very excited to be working with some of the finest educators in the activity with Crossmen for the 2017 season!
