Chris Kaflik- Visual Instruction

Chris Kaflik currently serves as CO-Director of Bands at Brownsburg High School in Brownsburg Indiana.  Before that, he spent three years serving as Assistant Director of Bands at Broken Arrow High School in Broken Arrow Oklahoma.  He was also Director of Bands and Orchestra at Northrop High School in Fort Wayne Indiana.  He earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Ball State University, in Muncie Indiana.

Chris’ accolades of his ensembles are extensive.  His concert ensembles consistently receive superior ratings, and his jazz ensembles have received many awards for outstanding performance.  Since Chris started at Brownsburg High School in 2016, the marching band been Indiana Class A State finalists and they have been named finalists at the Bands of America Indianapolis Super Regional.  Brownsburg has also been named one of America’s best communities for music education by NAMM. 

The Pride of Broken Arrow Marching Band has been consistent Bands of America Grand National Finalists and they are three-time Grand National Champions (2006, 2011 & 2015). They have also won multiple Oklahoma State Championships.  Chris’ main role with the marching band was visual instruction, choreography, and brass instruction.  Chris also assisted in teaching visual performance and choreography with the Broken Arrow Indoor Drum Line. 

Most recently, Chris was a visual instructor for the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (2017).  He has also worked with the Madison Scouts (2016), the Colts (2016), and the Blue Stars where he served as the Visual Caption Head (2011-2015).  He performed with the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps (2008-2010) and received several awards as a performer along the way. During his time at Ball State, he worked with the Carmel High School Marching Greyhounds and their extremely talented staff (2007-2011).  Chris proudly serves as the visual supervisor and music ensemble instructor for the Bands of America Summer Symposium Marching Band Track. Chris also works with several other marching bands throughout the United States and Europe as an instructor, consultant, writer, and adjudicator.

Chris is a native of Carmel, Indiana and currently resides in Indianapolis with his dog Rocky.
